Manawaroa 2024
Applications are now open for Manawaroa 2024. Our annual wānanga is taking place on the 16- 18 of February 2024
Identity - Culture - Whakapapa. These are just some of the concepts you’ll learn and experience over the weekend when you attend Manawaroa 2024.
Registered NRAIT owners over the age of 18 are encouraged to apply.
About Manawaroa
Our wānanga is marae-based and includes excursions into the Abel Tasman National Park by water and a bike hikoi. You will explore sites of significance to the Trust, in the Motueka area and hear the kōrero of our families.
The wānanga includes whakapapa workshop, NRAIT and traditional history and waiata.
When we asked what skills, knowledge or attitudes had changed for participants who attended our very first wananga one said they learnt new waiata, became more aware of the sites of significance in the Motueka rohe, and leant about important core values such as relationships, responsibility, reciprocity, redistribution, respect.

More information
The owners selected to participate are encouraged to engage in the weekend, take what they learn back to their whānau, and become ambassadors of the Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust.
The weekend is best suited to those with a reasonable level of fitness and can complete a 10km bike ride and also can get on and paddle the waka.
Costs associated with the weekend wānanga are covered by NRAIT, excluding travel costs to and from Motueka. All NRAIT owners over the age of 18 are encouraged to apply.
If you have any questions, please email Jo Eden on info@nrait.co.nz.
