On the weekend of 28-30 April 2023 your whānau and the descendants of the Ngāti Rārua Ātiawa Iwi Trust will gather to celebrate 30 years of the Trust in your homelands in Motueka.

We would like all whānau whānui o Ngāti Rārua me Te Ātiawa ki Motueka to join us on this special weekend of reconnecting and learning.

The most important part of the weekend is the Hui-ā-tau which will be held on Saturday 29 April starting at 9.00am.  Please note the venue for the AGM is Te Whare Taikura o Te Maatu, Motueka High School, Whakarewa Street.

 As well as our tamariki programme, the weekend includes time for whanaungatanga, a boat trip around the rohe with lunch, and the gala dinner celebrating our 30 year anniversary.

Friday 28th April

5.00pm  - Te Āwhina Marae

Pōwhiri: Every year we look forward to seeing whānau returning to their ancestral homelands in Motueka.

The pōwhiri ceremony will include kawe mate, the spiritual return of whānau who have passed away.  Those who have a kawe mate, please contact the office.

 

5.45pm - Wharekai

Kai: Join us following the pōwhiri in the wharekai for some kai

 

7.00pm - Turangapeke (Wharenui)

Whakawhanaungatanga / Pūrākau

 

Saturday 29th April

12.00pm - Te Āwhina Marae: Buses leave for Kaiteretere

1.00 - 5pm: Boat trip into the Abel Tasman to visit the pouwhenua, Turangāpeke, Hohaia Rangiauru and Tana Pukekohatu. Packed lunch at Anchorage

5pm: Bus departs for Te Āwhina Marae

 

6.30pm - Te Āwhina Marae

Gala dinner to celebrate our 30th anniversary and lease reform agreement.

The Gala dinner is an alcohol-free event.
